I heard on a TV report that a true psychic will not ask for money under the guidelines of psychics ?

This was on a news programme in Australia, and they tested 10 different people saying they were psychic or 'gifted', and then the head guy for physics society in Australia said that if they are truly gifted they are not allowed to ask for money? Is this true? Or are they a scam? What do you believe?

The 'true' ones with the gift won't take money for it nor do they advertise or want it to be known that they can. If they charge money, go the other way.
